The Defence Headquarters Academy in Nairobi on 24th October 2018 held a graduation ceremony for their pupils graduating from Pre-Unit to class one.
The chief guest was the Commanding Officer Defence Headquarters Camp Admin Unit (DHQ-CAU) Lieutenant Colonel Joseph K Ng’eny who thanked the parents and teachers for having given the children a serene learning environment in which a child’s potential is nurtured and developed.
He also congratulated the young scholars for successfully passing through an important phase of education that lays a strong foundation of a life-long learning process.
In his speech, Lt. Col. J. K. Ng’eny also urged the parents to keep on participating in their children’s graduation ceremonies as it gives the children morale, boosting their performance in learning.
He also said the Kenya Defence Forces supports the introduction of the new education system that educationists explain it will enable learners to develop beyond academics and also focus on how best they can use their specific talents to make a living.
“We being the sponsors, we will endeavour to support the new system. To begin with, we are anticipating commencing Grade 1-3 in our academy starting next year. So, for those pupils who have graduated today, I urge the parents to enroll them to join Grade 1 in our school come January 2019,” he said.
