78 Tank Battalion employs direct fire to the Enemy in support of ground troops during Kenya Army combined arms fire power demonstration at Archers post in Isiolo.
The Kenya Army (KA) Firepower Demonstration exercise held in the general area of Isiolo and Archers Post, presided over by Kenya Army Commander Lieutenant General Walter Raria has come to a close today. Maximum fire effect was achievedby boots on ground reinforced by Aviation, Armour and Artillery fire power.
The six-day exercise that was undertaken by troops drawn from various units and formations within the KA was purposely to enable the troops appreciate and make use of the collective fire support and capability at their disposal in fighting the enemy.
The exercise was also a culmination of Africa Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) pre-deployment training and several courses running in the Kenya Army training schools.
In his speech while presiding over the closing ceremony, the Kenya Army Commander asked the troops to be swift in any action they take while in the line of duty to defend the territorial integrity of the republic.
“The Kenya Army has invested in you by giving you requisite skills through the various trainings you undertake, therefore execute your duties with valour knowing that you have a ready and powerful support system behind you,’’ said the Army Commander.
During the exercise, additional Joint HelicopterCommand pilots were commissioned for the newly acquired air power machines besides the APCs and tanks for the 23 Mechanised Infantry Battalion (23 MIB) and 86 Armoured Battalion.
