The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Defence Ambassador Raychelle Omamo and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Samson Mwathethe visited Kahawa Garrison to pass festive season greetings to the troops.
While addressing the troops, Defence CS Ambassador Raychelle Omamo praised the soldiers for their dedication, patriotism and service throughout the year, mentioning that Kenyans would forever remain grateful for their sacrifice. The CS described KDF as the best example of unity in diversity, asserting that the military had continued to set high standards in professionalism, discipline and dedication.
The CDF General Samson Mwathethe in his speech thanked the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces of the Republic of Kenya His Excellency Hon Uhuru Kenyatta for the great value he had placed on KDF, noting his immense support for the force.
He also thanked the troops for their sacrifice throughout the year, pointing out their dedication in various assignments. “I would like to thank those who are on various security operations both in the country and outside, and I call upon you and me who have been left behind to continue doing our best in giving them a hand to succeed,” he said.
The CDF also eulogised those who had passed on, mentioning that their sacrifices would forever be remembered. He thanked families for their continued support to their members from the military, and challenged everyone to stay safe and alert during the festive season.
The event culminated in the visit to the newly constructed simplified single accommodation and the opening of the Garrison Trophy Hut.
Others present during the visit were the Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Walter Raria, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Operations, Doctrine and Training (ACDF OPD&T) Major General Adan Mulata, Kahawa Garrison Commander Brigadier Daniel Pyapan among other senior officers, officers and KDF service personnel.
