Participants of the 10,000 metres women’s race during the Armd Bde Athletics Competition at 81 Tank Bn.
The Armoured (Armd) Brigade (Bde) held an inter-unit Athletics Championships that ended on 4th March 2019 at 81 Tank Battalion (Bn), Nakuru.
The two-day event saw all the units within Armoured Bde come together to prove their athletic prowess in both field and track events. The units include the defending champions 81 Tank Bn, 86 ARB, 76 ARB, 78 Tank Bn, School of Armour and Armd Bde Headquarters.
This year’s event saw the defending champions 81 Tank Bn retain its position followed by 76 ARB and 78 Tank Bn.
A team was selected from this competition who are expected to embark on training in order to represent Armoured Bde in the upcoming KDF and National competitions.
During his closing remarks, the chief guest Deputy Armd Bde Commander Col Willy Wesonga, thanked all the organizers and participants for the great sporting and competitive spirit.
“Sports has a vital role in the management strategy, where soldiers meet and interact with each other” he noted adding that Armd Bde will continue to nourish and support athletics to boost the national excellence in these events.
